In Vietnam, logistics has been developed since the 1990s. However, in just a short time, logistics has developed strongly, affirming a particularly important role in the economy.

Up to now, the system of policies and legislation on logistics has been increasingly completed; Logistics infrastructure in recent years has seen remarkable changes in Vietnam’s logistics services with a relatively high growth rate of 12% to 14%, the rate of businesses outsourcing logistics services is about 60- 70%, contributing about 4-5% of GDP.
According to the World Bank Report in 2018, Vietnam ranked 39 out of 60 countries participating in the study, up 25 places compared to 2016 and ranked third among ASEAN countries.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung, besides recent results, Vietnam’s logistics industry still has shortcomings and limitations. In particular, the cost of logistics services in our country is still quite high, increasing costs, reducing the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods in particular, and the competitiveness of the Vietnamese economy in general.
The main reason is that the planning work between branches and fields still has not had close connection with each other; transport, trade and information technology infrastructure is limited, connection with other countries in the region is slow; The combination between e-commerce and logistics is not really effective.
In addition, the competitiveness of logistics service businesses in Vietnam is not high compared to other countries in the region and the world.
Develop a fair and healthy market for logistics services
Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung said that in the coming 2021 and the following years, the world situation will continue to be complicated and unpredictable while the COVID-19 pandemic is complicated.
Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung said: “To do so, it is necessary to develop logistics services into a service sector that brings high added value, linking logistics services with development of goods production, import-export and trade. development of transportation infrastructure and information technology ”, said Deputy Prime Minister.

Improve mechanism, give priority to infrastructure development

Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung also emphasized 6 groups of key tasks for ministries and agencies at the Forum.

First of all, ministries and branches need to focus on perfecting the system of regulations, mechanisms and policies related to logistics in their respective industries and fields; ensure stability, consistency, transparency, feasibility, sharply reduce administrative procedures and barriers to reduce enforcement costs for people and businesses.

Especially, perfecting mechanisms and policies, mobilizing resources, reducing costs, promoting logistics development for each transport sector (road, sea, waterway, railway, and air). , for each region, region, locality. Regarding the group of solutions to develop logistics enterprises, the Deputy Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade to take the lead in developing packages of solutions to support businesses early in the process of implementing international economic integration commitments, promptly removing them. business problems on policy issues and implementation of free trade agreements such as CPTPP, EVFTA and the upcoming Comprehensive Partnership Agreement ASEAN and partner countries (RCEP).
