The General Department of Customs announced the import and export data in 2021
The General Department of Customs has just released a schedule to announce information on imports and exports in 2021. According to the General Department of Customs, the United Nations Statistics Office (UNSD) and the ASEAN Statistics Agency (ASEANStats) recommend that agencies and organizations producing statistics to build and notify users before the schedule. publish and disseminate statistical information to organizations and individuals using statistics.
In December 2020, the leader of the General Department of Customs approved the Schedule to announce state statistical information on customs for exported and imported goods for the whole year 2021.
The approval of the Information Disclosure Schedule complies with the Government’s Decree No. 94/2016 / ND-CP dated July 1, 2016, detailing and guiding the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Statistics, in that specifies the activities of disseminating statistical information; Circular No. 52/2020 / TT-BTC dated 10/6/2011 of the Ministry of Finance on publication and dissemination of statistical information on exported and imported goods and Decree No. 60/2018 / ND-CP dated April 20, 2018 of the Government stipulates the national statistical reporting regime applicable to ministries and branches. According to regulations, the General Department of Customs’ Information Disclosure Calendar is built annually and publicly and widely announced to organizations and individuals using information at the web portal of the General Department of Customs.
After the first 6 months of implementing the Calendar year, the Customs will review the implementation progress. In case of any adjustment or supplementation, organizations and individuals will promptly notify the use of information on the web portal of the General Department of Customs. The revision of the first 6 months of 2021 will be made and published by the end of September 2021 and the official data for the whole year 2021 will be widely disseminated by the end of April 2022. Organizations and individuals using statistical information can actively base themselves on the Information Disclosure Calendar of the General Department of Customs to actively exploit statistical data. Currently, the General Department of Customs publishes data in three states: preliminary, adjusted and official.
The estimated statistics are for reporting purposes only. In case there is a change in the time for statistical information dissemination according to the schedule, the General Department of Customs will notify it soon.
The year 2021 is the ninth year the General Department of Customs develops the statistical information disclosure calendar. Over the past 8 years, the General Department of Customs has basically almost completely complied with popular timelines according to the schedule.
The publication of statistical information according to the Statistical Information Disclosure Calendar ensures: first, the publicity, transparency and accuracy of the time and method of publishing statistical information; second, the equal right of organizations and individuals to access statistical information for the aggregated information; and finally, convey statistical information quickly to private users.
According to the latest preliminary data of the General Department of Customs, the total value of import and export goods of the whole country (accumulated from the beginning of the year to the end of December 15, 2020) reached 515.27 billion USD, up 4.5 % (corresponding to an increase of more than 22 billion USD) over the same period in 2019. In which, the total export value reached 267.22 billion USD, up 6.1% and the total import value was 248.04 billion USD, up 2.7%. Vietnam’s merchandise trade balance saw a surplus of 19.18 billion USD, the highest ever, nearly double the 10.34 billion USD surplus of the same period last year.
