Important Considerations When Exporting Fresh Bananas

When exporting fresh bananas, businesses need to pay attention to several key factors to ensure product quality and compliance with international standards.

Firstly, regarding packaging and transportation conditions, green bananas should be packed in 40Rf refrigerated containers with the temperature maintained at 13°C. Ventilation should be set at 25CBM to ensure quality during transport.

For quality standards, bananas must be intact, without bruises, breakage, or decay. They should not have sunburn, blemishes, or black marks and must be free from latex. The ripeness level at harvest should range between 75-85%, and the minimum fruit length should be 13 cm.

The peel and stems of the bananas should be fresh, dry, and clean. When preparing bananas for export, they should be cut into individual clusters close to the stem, with the bunch stem completely removed. The stem of each banana cluster should be dry, and clusters with decaying stems or remaining bunch stems are unacceptable.

Finally, exported bananas must meet the importing country’s inspection requirements and be free of pests as stipulated in the contract.
